Bowen

This gentle non-invasive and effective treatment was developed in Australia during the 1950s by Thomas Bowen born to an immigrant family from Wales.

Since that time, Bowen Therapy has spread around the world and is today used successfully in Australia, the USA, Canada and Europe, including Britain.  Among the present day therapists are osteopaths, chiropractors, sports therapists and physiotherapists getting great results for their patients with their Bowen treatment.

Because Bowen is such a gentle and specific treatment, commonly Hella works with clients that could otherwise not have been helped by a chiropractor, osteopath, or physiotherapist. Bowen can help people of any age group from the tiniest of babies to the frailest of OAPs. Essentially the Bowen technique is a gentle hands-on treatment which works by using gentle pressure on certain points of the patient’s body. Commonly the therapist will use their fingers and thumbs to perform specific rolling pushes on the skin which stimulate the muscles and specific parts of the body. There is generally no force or manipulation involved with Bowen treatment

Most Bowen treatments can be performed through thin clothing. Generally the length of time for the treatment can vary according to the severity of symptoms, and the individual patients presentation. As a rule of thumb treatments will generally last between 45 and 60 minutes.

There are a variety of common conditions Bowen therapy treats in and around the Lymington and Sway area. This include : chronic stress, low back pain, neck pain, headaches. For more information about conditions Bowen therapy treats please have a look here.
